New launch: Dorset County Scouts

 

We’re really pleased to announce the launch of our latest project – a brand new website for Dorset County Scouts!

Proud to offer young people of all ages and backgrounds the chance to reach their full potential through the unique experience of Scouting, Dorset County Scouts offer the chance to enjoy new activities, make friends, develop skills, and make a positive impact in a number of local communities. Proud to be part of the County that Scouting was born in, today, Dorset Scouts offers fun, challenge and adventure to over 6,500 boys and girls aged between 6 and 25.

The brief

Late last year, Dorset County Scouts approached us with the challenge of creating a brand new, bespoke website that not only provided a place for their members to find the latest news and information, but also reflected both themselves and scouting as a whole. We were tasked to merge their existing webiste with a brand new design that encouraged interaction and maintained a positive user experience.

The build

The new website has been built from the ground up in the WordPress content management system and features an array of bespoke functionality and features including:

• Group finder functionality
• Training availability calendar and booking system linked with Eventbrite
• Comprehensive adult support section with hub areas for useful information
• Latest News posts from around the county
• Upcoming events area for county-wide events
• An integrated Twitter feed
• ‘Get involved’ area, allowing users to find out more about signing up within Dorset or one of the many Districts within

The new website was designed to give their 6,500 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Network members a place to visit for the latest information, news and events. It also attracts new members and volunteers, as well as providing 1000’s of their excellent volunteers with training resources and online course bookings.
